Maintenance Tips

Get the most out of your projector.

Depending on how the projector is used, repaired, etc. There are steps you can take to get the best possible performance from your projector.

Modern projectors have a built-in timer that shows how long the lamp is running. When the timer reaches a certain point, a message will appear on the projector screen, or you may notice that the lamp is no longer as bright as it was when it was first installed. These are signs that you should consider buying a new lamp.

How to get the power of the projector lamp:

Below are 7 ways to maintain projector lamp performance:

  1. Never immediately unplug the projector. Most projectors have an internal fan that continues to run even after it has been turned off. Always allow the projector to cool down before unplugging it. We recommend leaving it plugged in for at least 15 minutes before unplugging it.
  2. Avoid turning the projector on and off repeatedly, as this can cause the lamp to fail prematurely.
  3. Avoid moving the projector during use or cooling it down after use. Hot lamps are very sensitive; any movement or vibration may cause the lamp filament to break.
  4. Clean the projector regularly. Especially the filter: clogged filters can overheat the lamp and cause it to fail much sooner than it should. Always make sure the power cord is unplugged before attempting to clean any part of the projector. Use a vacuum cleaner and compressed air to blow out and collect dust and debris. If the filter cannot be cleaned, replace it. School Projector Lamps can supply virtually all brands and makes of replacement filters.
  5. Whenever possible, use the economy mode, which can significantly extend the life of the lamp.
  6. Never block the vents and make sure there is enough space around the projector to allow air to flow in and out.
  7. Never touch parts of the lamp with your bare hands. Oil and debris on the hands and fingers can cause hot spots that cause the lamp to fail prematurely.
